Favourites and Other Questions – #GTKM

It’s been a while since I posted a personal one… I’m doing some soul-searching right now and figured it would do me some good! I’ve opted for 25 questions as I’m hitting that quarter-century mark sometime soon.

Without further ado, here are 25 ‘get to know me’ questions (random, as always) about me – the gal behind the TRG.

1. What is your middle name?

I don’t have one! I *think* it was going to be something like Elizabeth but my mum figured ‘Cara’ was cool enough on it’s own.

2. Share you favorite subject in high school.

Art – I loved the idea of tackling a huge project and seeing it through to it’s end. Granted, the middle part was a pain sometimes. I’m a perfectionist so I rarely saw any positives inmy work. I also loved English for giving me the opporunity to read new things and Geography for learning about the world.

3. What is your favorite drink?

TEA. British stereotype that rings true every damn day. I don’t feel I’ve started (or ended) my day without a mug. I’m fond of a chai latte, too!

Alcohol-wise, a Raspberry Lynchburg, please!d37b852f349b22c724c6798db55e8734.png

4. What is your favorite song at the moment?

‘Blinding Lights’ by The Weeknd.

5. What would you (or have you) name your children?

Hmm, I have a few cool names in mind. Something fairly individual would be awesome, but once you look into a few names you realise they’re not very original at all! I’m of the mindset that you’ll look at your child  just know – getting a vibe for what their name will be in the moment.

6. Have you participated in any sports?

Many, when I was younger: field hockey, tag rugby, rounders… I had a mean backhand in tennis, too.

7. What is your favorite book?

This is such a difficult question! I’ll say The Hobbit, today. Awesome book, less dense than TLotR and a fun read. I love the likes of Emma and Pride & Prejudice, too, they taught me a lot. Andrzej Sapkowski’s Wiedźmin (Witcher) series deserves a mention, too… mainly for inspiring Henry Cavill to bless our screens as Geralt! xD

8. What is your favorite colour?

Again, this varies, too. Today I’ll say yellow – it reminds me of spring!

9. What is your favorite animal?

Dogs, for their loyalty and unwavering love; orangutans for their patience (with us humans) and wisdom, and alpacas are pretty sassy, too.

10. What is your favorite perfume?

Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent & Lady Million by Paco Rabanne.

11. What is your favorite holiday?

Greece was awesome. I really got to experience the ‘real’ side of the country and met some amazing people along the way. I didn’t see as many ruins or beaches as I’d like to, but it’s a country that keeps you wanting to go back.

12. On a scale from 1 – 10, rate your childhood.

10 – for the freedom I had, the opportunities given and my mum’s unwavering patience.

13. Have you been out of the country?

Not as much as I’d like to, but yes – France, Greece and Germany.

14. Do you speak any different languages?

I love to learn different languages. I can speak conversational Danish, less of French and I’m currently learning Greek and Japanese through Duolingo… mainly because I want to understand their cryptic symbols (and avoid my research 😉 )

15. Do you have any siblings?

3 – an older sister and 2 younger brothers.

16. What is your favorite store?

Any stationery store… I love distracting myself with new pens/notepads, promising myself that is isn’t procrastination when, in fact, it is. I also love tech stores… to a bank balance-damaging level. Clothes shopping is always fun, but stationery and tech has my heart.

17. What is your favorite restaurant?

Not so much a restaurant as a takeout place, but Zapatista Burrito Bar in Newcastle… or Tapas Revolution. I love the variety and authentic dishes. Now I’m hungry…

18. Did you like school?

Loved it. It made me who I am today.

19. Who are some of your favorite YouTubers?

Adriene Mishler (Yoga with Adriene), various gamers and Marques Brownlee (MKBHD).

20. What is your favorite movie?

Pitch Perfect and White Chicks are up there for their feel-good vibes; Skyfall for its class; Tangled for the Disney quota and The Mummy Returns for my childhood favourite. There have to be about 50 more, if I’m honest, but I’ll save you from ‘the list’ xD.

21. What are some of your favorite TV shows?

Community, Friends, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office (US), New Girl, Bones, Grey’s Anatomy (the earlier seasons), Big Bang Theory, The Good Place… and many more.

22. PC or Mac?

Having originally been a PC gal, I switched to the glitz of Mac for my initial college/uni years and have recently switched back to PC. PC has more freedom and more capabilities.

23. What phone do you have?

Samsung S9 – again, now an Android gal after a long foray into Apple products. My bank account and techie nature appreciates the switch!

24. How tall are you?

5’6″ (on a good day).

25. Do you have any pets?

Oscar the Shih Tzu is my little, often smelly, shadow. He gives me a reason to get some fresh air on days where I really don’t feel like it. As much as he can be a pain, I’m grateful for his presence on those days.

Patch the cat owns us, however. Her sass and independence is inspiring.

And that’s that! I hope you found that little insight at least a tiny bit interesting. I find it useful to do a bit of self-reflection every now and then. Why don’t you give it a go, too?
